Celebrity Style Watch: The 61st Grammy Awards

Last Sunday (February 10), the 61st annual Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. 15-time Grammy winner and no-makeup stunner, Alicia Keys hosted the show for the first time. Hollywood’s most musical night of the year featured performances from the likes of Lady Gaga, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, and Canada’s very own, Shawn Mendes.

Music’s biggest night also highlighted some of the best fashion we’ve ever seen on a red carpet. From Janelle Monae’s stunning headpiece to Cardi B’s expressive gown, glitter, tulle, and many, many chic suits – the 2019 Grammy red carpet did not disappoint. And how did celebrities take their fashion moment over the top this year? With gorgeous jewellery.

We’ve picked out our top 3 favourite trends and the celebrities who we think rocked them best. With jewellery like this, going home with a Grammy was really only icing on top of an already very sparkly cake!

Chunky Statement Chokers

This year the Grammys were all about the armoured drama of statement-making chokers.

Alicia Keys

Natural beauty (she’s always makeup-free) Alicia Keys pulled off multiple outfit changes throughout the night, but we especially loved the curve-hugging Armani Prive dress and knockout Bulgari necklace she started the night out in.

Lady Gaga

Gaga stunned in a gorgeous Celine by Hedi Slimane dress which was accented (or, rather, outshined) by a mosaic-like statement piece from Tiffany & Co.’s Blue Book Collection. The necklace features more than 91 carats of uniquely cut diamonds set in platinum and took over a year to produce.

Dripping in Diamonds

White diamonds ruled the night with plenty of celebrities opting for a little – and others opting for a lot.  We loved the over-the-top dripping-in-jewels looks, but that’s no surprise!

Bebe Rexha

The double Grammy nominee made headlines about her teams struggle to find dress choices for the big night (after reportedly being told by several designers that she was “too big); however, the search ended up being well in Rexha’s favour – her gorgeous red tulle gown was accented with a pile of diamonds, including an Illa Cosmic ring that features 5.76 carats of diamonds set in 18-karat white gold. Bebe is our choice for best dressed of the night!

Meghan Trainor

Wearing a gorgeous custom Christian Siriano jumpsuit which embodies the trend by itself, the “All About That Bass” singer wisely paired the ensemble with an elegant pair of diamond drop earrings from Forevermark jewellery that looked amazing with her slicked-back hair.

Statement Earrings

Like we saw in our last Celebrity Style Watch, statement earrings tore up the red carpet at Sunday’s Grammys.

Janelle Monae

The Grammy nominee opted to break up two sets of Tiffany & Co. yellow gold chain earrings to create her own look.

Alessia Cara

The 22-year-old Canadian singer arrived in style to pass on her Best New Artist title – which she won last year – to Dua Lipa. Cara wore beautiful Jenny Bird statement earrings to accent her Self Portrait dress.
