Celebrating Our 80th Anniversary! A Look Back Through History

As we celebrate our 80th anniversary in 2025, we are filled with gratitude for our clients, staff, and community who have made this possible. Since 1945, Edwards & Davies Jewellers has been a cornerstone of Toronto’s east end, weaving a legacy of craftsmanship, trust, and community into every piece we create.

In 1945, Gordon Edwards Sr. opened Edwards & Davies doors with a vision to make timeless jewellery that celebrates life’s most meaningful moments. In 1994, his son, Gordon Edwards Jr., took the helm, carrying forward the family’s commitment to excellence. Today, the store is led by Gordon Jr.’s son, Adam Ollerenshaw, marking three generations of family leadership.

Edwards & Davies has had the privilege of serving nearly four generations of loyal clients. We’ve been there for life’s milestones, from crafting engagement rings and wedding bands to creating heirloom keepsakes. It’s a heartwarming moment when clients share stories of their parents and grandparents who were not just our customers but our friends. These families, who continue to trust us with their jewellery needs, are the heart of our business. Their stories remind us that we are more than a jewellery store. We are a small part of their lives, their big moments, and their legacies.

Over the decades, the business has evolved with the times while staying true to our roots. We’ve transitioned from handwritten work orders to computer-aided design programs. We still remember the staff panic when we announced getting our first computer! Our custom pieces now blend traditional artistry with cutting-edge technology to continue delivering the highest quality while still honouring our love for the craft.

Edwards & Davies Jewellers remains dedicated to creating jewellery that tells stories, honours traditions, and celebrates love. We look forward to continuing our legacy as a family business, serving Toronto’s east end and beyond for generations to come.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
